“World-class” De Vere Wokefield Estate hosts charity golf day and raises over £2,000 for local charity Naomi House and Jacksplace

Reading-based De Vere Wokefield Estate is celebrating after it played host to a phenomenal charity golf day (on 12 September) which saw a strong field of 13 teams from across the county and further afield play this par 72 championship golf course, and in doing so raise more than £2,000 for local charity Naomi House and Jacksplace.

Tipped as one of the leading golf courses in the area, the tournament began with a shotgun start and there were plenty of prizes across the course such as a dinner, bed & breakfast overnight stay plus 2 rounds of golf for 4 people at De Vere Selsdon Estate, not to mention a Mini Cooper for anyone who scored a hole in one, which unfortunately wasn’t achieved.

After the final shot was taken and the teams returned, scores tallied up it was Paul Weeks, Mark Grist, Chris Burghfield and Les Morales who were crowned champions with a score of 95 with the team from Vodafone coming in second with 89 points. The individual winner was Chris Burghfield with an impressive score of 40.   

Jamie Anton, Head of Golf at De Vere Wokefield Estate said: “What a day!  We have been overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm shown for this event. The weather was perfect for golf, which resulted in some strong scores with tough competition between the top three teams. We’d like to thank everyone for their support in making this event such a success. We are thrilled to have raised £2,000 which will be able to offer 14 hydrotherapy sessions for patients at their hospice.”

Other prizes that were won: Golf day for eight people at Glyne Golf Club in South Wales; one night B&B stay for two with lake view at De Vere Cotswold Water Park, Golf lesson voucher with one of the De Vere Wokefield Estate PGA Pros, membership to the golf club and a Callaway Golf Shirt. 

The nearest the Pin on the eight hole was Roy Cole. On the 12th Hole was beat the pro-competition with 10 players beating our Head Professional Adam Glass. Nearest the Pin on the 17th Hole went to Jamie Mac Cready and nearest the Pin in 3 shots on the 18th was Paul Weeks.
