National Trust Properties in and around Reading

The National Trust is fantastic for the community; preserving all those beautiful old buildings, gardens and estates for the public to see. Luckily, there are hundreds of NT properties all around the UK. But where are the ones in and around Reading located? We'll reveal all...

**Due to COVID-19, National Trust Properties have unfortunately had to close their doors but as of Wednesday 13th May, they will be gradually re-opening various car parks and parks around the country. Please click here for more information**

1. Basildon Park

Basildon Park is the nearest National Trust property to Reading, and it's one of the best too. Basildon House was almost demolished, but luckily Lord and Lady Illife and the National Trust has helped lovingly revive it back to a beautiful 1950's  home for all to see. The extensive parkland offers a variety of walks, all different lengths, to give you the opportunity to see the wildlife and seasonal flowers. Click here to learn more about Basildon Park.

The walled garden is a feature you will not want to miss - with stunning seasonal flowers and the famous knarled wisteria which was planted 130 years ago, it's a haven for all-round beauty. Their home and personal possessions are just as they left them, the decor and furnishings intact. You can look around this intimate home and see for yourself the tastes and interests of its remarkable owner. Click here to learn more about Nuffield Place.
