World Cup 2015 Trophy Tour to Visit Reading

This August the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Green Park, Reading during the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

Launching on June 10, 100 days to go to the opening match, the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

As part of the tour the Webb Ellis Cup will visit Reading on August 25th 2015. The Berkshire Rugby Festival, being hosted by Green Park in Reading, will welcome the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

The Festival will be a family fun day out with a combination of , interactive activities that will be supported by all of the rugby clubs across Berkshire to showcase the Game, promote their club and increase participation to all ages, boys and girls, men and women and all forms of the Game from tag, touch, 7s and the XV-a-side game.

Jason McMahon, RFU’s Trophy Tour Lead organiser for Berkshire, said: “For the Webb Ellis Cup to visit such a key central location in Berkshire, that is so accessible for all of Berkshire’s rugby fans both active and non-active to access by car, bus, bike or train, warrants a huge celebration in the year of Rugby World Cup 2015. The Berkshire Rugby Festival will be supported by a global rugby icon on the day and a ‘Rugby Bus’ that may be seen across the area to promote rugby in Berkshire in the build up to RWC2015. It’s going to be an incredible fun family day followed by a Networking Forum that will invite Business & Community Group Leaders to discuss how we can increase participation in all sports as part of the legacy of Rugby World Cup 2015.”

The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour journey throughout the UK and Ireland aims to engage fans and give them the opportunity to build unforgettable memories as part of their own Rugby World Cup 2015 story.
