DIWALI Light It Up 2026

A large-scale Diwali celebration in Reading town centre featuring illuminated puppets, lanterns, dhol drums, live music and dance.

Reading town centre comes alive with light, music and movement for Diwali, presented by Kala The Arts. The 2026 theme is Being Human.

Broad Street will feature towering 17-foot puppets of Sita, Rama, Ganesh and companions, alongside dozens of lanterns and light installations. The area will be filled with the beat of dhol drums, live music and dancers in costumes inspired by goddesses, animals and mythic tales.

Attendees are encouraged to wear bright colours and enjoy the celebration in the heart of Reading.
