Victorian Schoolroom Experience in the Gateway

A 45-minute Victorian schoolroom session in the historic Reading Abbey Gateway for adults and children aged 5+.

Participants meet a Victorian schoolteacher and re-learn the ‘3Rs’ in a unique Victorian classroom in the historic Abbey Gateway. This is a 45-minute experience for adults and children aged 5+.

Price: £2 per person (book in advance or pay on the day at Reading Museum reception, subject to availability)

Accessibility note: The Gateway has no step-free access and includes uneven steps and floors.

Additional activity: Victorian object handling is offered throughout the day at the museum.
