This guided walking tour explores Reading’s Abbey Quarter, starting in the Story of Reading Gallery at Reading Museum and continuing outdoors to key heritage sites. Highlights include the Hospitium, Reading Abbey Ruins and the Abbey Quarter’s links with Henry I. The tour also includes exclusive access to the Abbey Gateway, once part of the school where Jane Austen studied and lived as a girl.

Accessibility note: The Abbey Gateway is a listed historic building with no step-free access, uneven steps and floors, and the schoolroom is reached via two flights of steep stairs (around 30 steps).
