Reading Abbey Quarter Tour

A Saturday morning walking tour of Reading’s Abbey Quarter with exclusive access to Jane Austen’s school in the Abbey Gateway.

A walking tour exploring the heart of Reading led by official Reading Museum tour guides.

The tour starts in the Story of Reading Gallery at Reading Museum and continues outdoors through the Abbey Quarter, including the Hospitium and Reading Abbey Ruins. The tour also explores links with Henry I and the connection between Jane Austen and Reading, with exclusive access to the Abbey Gateway (Jane Austen’s school).

When: Saturdays, starting 11.00am (approx. 90 minutes)

Where: Meet at Reading Museum, main reception (route/stops may vary)

Price: £10

Accessibility note: The Abbey Gateway is a historic listed building with no step-free access; the schoolroom is accessed via steep stairs.
