October Workshop: Costume Design

Explore the spooky world of Dracula and design atmospheric Victorian-inspired costumes in this creative half-term workshop for young people aged 11–16.

Every stitch tells a story in this atmospheric costume design workshop at Reading Rep Theatre. Inspired by Dracula and its ghostly Victorian mood, participants will explore how silhouette, texture and colour can bring characters and stories to life.

Young designers will develop concept sketches and mood boards, experiment with fabric samples and upcycled materials, and try draping ideas on mini mannequins. From sombre mourning clothes and shadowy veils to tattered hems and dark colour palettes, the session offers an opportunity to explore costume design and develop creative skills.

The workshop is suitable for ages 11–16 and costs £25 per person, with no booking fee. The event is currently sold out to the general public, according to Reading Rep Theatre.
