October Workshop: Set Design

Step into the shadows and discover how to design a spooky theatrical setting inspired by Dracula in this creative half-term workshop for young people aged 11–16.

Explore the art of theatrical set design at Reading Rep Theatre with this atmospheric workshop inspired by Dracula. Participants will discover how space, light, texture and Gothic details can create suspense, mood and supernatural menace on stage.

Young designers will sketch and build their own miniature set inspired by Gothic castles, imagining flickering lanterns, warped staircases, gloomy surroundings and mysterious secrets. The session encourages creativity and experimentation while introducing participants to the techniques used to bring theatrical settings to life.

No previous experience is required — just imagination and an interest in the Gothic. The workshop is suitable for ages 11–16 and costs £25 per person, with no booking fee. The event is currently sold out to the general public.
