The NSBRC Guide to Self Build & Renovation Projects (6–8 November 2026)

A comprehensive three-day training course for aspiring self-builders, renovators and retrofitters, covering key stages from early planning through to completion and sustainability.

The NSBRC Guide to Self Build & Renovation Projects is an informal but in-depth three-day course designed for aspiring self-builders, home renovators and retrofitters. It covers over 10 essential topics and uses the National Self Build & Renovation Centre’s life-size practical exhibits, taking a fabric first approach to building.

Attendees can book all three days or build a bespoke package (for example, Day 1 and Day 2 only, or a single day), selecting tickets at checkout.

Programme overview

• Day 1 | Early stages: project planning and preparation (budgeting & finance, finding & evaluating land, design & specification, planning permission)
• Day 2 | Later stages: tendering to completion (building systems & construction methods, building regulations, contracts & tendering, project & site management)
• Day 3 | Heating and sustainability: energy fundamentals, design/planning/management, heating options

Schedule: Friday–Sunday, 09:00–17:30 (live at the Centre). Advanced booking is required.
