Two Halves of Guinness

Discover the fascinating life and career of legendary actor Sir Alec Guinness in this acclaimed solo performance starring Zeb Soanes at Reading Rep Theatre.

Written by Mark Burgess and directed by Selina Cadell, Two Halves of Guinness explores the extraordinary life of Sir Alec Guinness, the double-Oscar-winning actor celebrated for more than 70 film performances.

Although Guinness became famous to later generations for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars, he feared that audiences would remember him only as the Jedi Knight. This production reveals a more complex and mysterious life story, revisiting his memorable characters and encounters with some of the biggest names in film and theatre.

Starring Zeb Soanes, known for his work with Classic FM and BBC Radio 4, the production marks the 25th anniversary of Sir Alec Guinness's death. The play is written by Mark Burgess and directed by Selina Cadell.

The performances take place from 29 to 31 October 2026. Age guidance is 12+. The production is currently sold out to the general public, so contact the theatre box office regarding accessibility-related availability.
