Reading Roadrunners Shinfield 10K

Reading Roadrunners’ Shinfield 10K is a UKA-licensed 10km road race taking place on Monday 4 May 2026, featuring chip timing, medals for all finishers, age-group prizes, and junior cross country races later in the morning.

Reading Roadrunners Shinfield 10K (UKA Licence No. 30679) takes place on Monday 4 May 2026.

The event includes a 10km race with chip timing and a friendly atmosphere supported by marshals and local organisations. All profits are shared between local charities.

10K start time: 09.30am

UKA affiliated runners£21 in advance; £25 on the day
Non-affiliated runners£23 in advance; £27 on the day
Online entries close at 11.59pm on Sunday 3 May. Online entries are subject to a £1.73 admin fee.

On-the-day information: race numbers and timing chips are not mailed and must be collected from the registration desk in the hall at Shinfield Infant & Nursery School by 09.00am.

Safety rules (highlights): no personal stereos/MP3 players/iPods or similar devices may be worn while running (disqualification applies). For safety reasons, no dogs, buggies, pushchairs, wheelchairs, or similar are allowed.

Junior Cross Country Races: 11.45am on Monday 4 May 2026 at Langley Mead (around a 5-minute walk from School Green). The course is rough pasture/flood plain and may be wet and slippery; races are not chip-timed and SMS results are not available.

  • 11.45am – Blue race (ages 4, 5, 6) – 2k (two laps)

  • 12.15pm – Green race (ages 7, 8, 9) – 2k (two laps)

  • 12.45pm – Red race (ages 10, 11, 12) – 3.1k (three laps)

  • 12.45pm – Yellow race (ages 13, 14, 15) – 4.1k (four laps)

Junior entry fees: £6 in advance or £8 on the day (subject to a limit of 400 runners). All junior runners receive a medal and trophies are awarded for the first three boys and girls in each race.

Parking: race parking (courtesy of the University of Reading) is at Thames Valley Science Park. Parking is free, with a requested £2 cash-only donation per vehicle. Postcode: RG2 9LH.

Road closures: Hyde End Road is scheduled to be closed between 09.25 and 09.40 on 4 May 2026 between Hollow Lane/A327 and Appleton Way. Beke Avenue is also scheduled to be closed between 08.30am and 11.30pm between Hollow Lane and Lidl.
